After the march at the capital when FDR was elected his wife urged the bonus Army to apply for work with Works Progress Administration. This helped give them hope and jobs and make the money that they lost and never had.
Congress overrode a veto made by Roosevelt in 1936 to give the veterans their bonus 10 years early. This helped by giving the bonus army veterans their promised bonus that they needed.
Also the Social Security Act can provided them with a monthly check since most were elders. This help the older veterans who need it.
